Just a short drive (15-20 minutes) from Lake Louise is Moraine Lake. Moraine Lake, although not as large as Lake Louise, is equally stunning and well worth a visit.
When you pull into the car park and start heading towards the Lake it’s hard to see what all the fuss is about but don’t be fooled by first impressions.
The lake is nestled between a rocky mountain and woodlands and has a large island at one end formed out of fallen rock. If you climb to the top of the island the lake reveals itself and you get amazing views of the icy blue/green lake below. We stopped and had lunch at the top of the island in the drizzle but it was such a beautiful place we were happy getting a little wet.
Definitely make sure you make time to visit Lake Moraine – you won’t regret it!
